Tame Your Little One’s Eczema with the Right Moisturizer + Soothing Balm

How is your little one’s skin lately? Eczema is such a tricky condition for children (and their parents who help treat it) because it has a pattern of flaring up. In most cases, triggers such as allergens, stress, or the wrong skincare product can lead to a flare up of chronic eczema.

One way you can help prevent and reduce flare ups in your little one’s skin is to have a great, tried-and-true skincare routine. It is immensely beneficial to find products that are gentle, hypoallergenic, and most importantly, calm and soothe your child’s eczema condition. Moisturization should be a big part of your routine and a soothing balm can make all the difference.

Sadly, there are so many products on the market that wading through them and trying them out can be expensive, complicated and worse, cause your child’s skin to react. In today’s blog, I’d like to outline a great method for an eczema-friendly skincare routine and some product recommendations that may be helpful for your family.

STEP ONE

When it comes to skincare routines for eczema starts with cleansing gently. We recommend a cleanser that is hypoallergenic, made from clean or organic ingredients, and non-drying or striping. Our upcoming Oh-So-Sudsy Cleanser is a wonderful option for gentle bathtime cleansing for your little with chronic or severe eczema. Stay tuned for the launch of this amazing product!

STEP TWO

Moisturization! There are a few types of moisturizers you can choose from - lotions, creams and ointments. These are classified by the amount of water and oil in them. When it comes to eczema, you really want a higher oil content. Lotions have the most water, often contain irritating ingredients and evaporate quickly – which is not helpful for chronic eczema. We recommend a soothing balm or ointment as the best option for healing eczema.

When it comes to moisturizer, you’ll want to look for non-irritating ingredients and clean or organic quality is best to avoid pesticides and other harmful chemicals. Our Lovingly Soothing Balm is an excellent option for littles with eczema. Our soothing balm is pediatrician-developed, smooth, creamy and packed with gentle ingredients like cocoa butter, calendula and jojoba oil. This high oil content is perfect for soothing and healing irritated skin, and most importantly, it works well to manage eczema.

Between those two steps, your little one can gain great control of their eczema condition. Be sure to be mindful of their unique triggers as well for the best results combined with a skincare routine. Wishing your little one healthy, happy skin!

Have you tried essential oils? This wellness trend is all over lately and some oils claim to help with relaxation, skin health, mood regulation and more. While essential oils have become a popular alternative treatment for many health concerns, it's important to remember that not all forms of treatment are safe for everyone, especially children.
