    Our Story

    The Dr. Sylma story begins with love and concern for my patients. As a pediatrician with over 20 years of clinical experience, I found that many parents struggled with finding the right support for challenging skin concerns. Childhood skin issues like chronic eczema and sensitive skin are so common and often, they are brushed off at the doctor’s office. I realized there was a need for quality skincare for children with sensitive skin. So, I created a line of skincare that truly works and that parents can trust to soothe, heal and protect the skin. That’s when Dr. Sylma was born.

    SYLMA (seel-mà)…where does this name come from?

    Well, my family and childhood friends know me by my middle name, Sylma. It’s not a common name in Latin America (I was born and raised in Puerto Rico), but my dad chose it for me, which makes it very special. When I moved to the United States, I was always called by my first name, Maria, which felt unfamiliar at first, but it stuck with me throughout my college years and professional life. So when it came to naming this new skincare company, I felt that reclaiming my childhood name was the most natural thing to do, and that’s how ‘Dr. Sylma’ was born…

    What We Believe

    At Dr. Sylma, we create healthy products for healthy families. Skincare should be gentle and worry-free. We know that being a parent isn’t always easy, especially when you are dealing with chronic eczema. And your concerns as a parent should be seen and heard by companies, always. 

    That’s why we make premium skincare for kids with gentle, wholesome organic ingredients. We also strive to care for our customers in the same way our founder, Dr. Maria Sylma Tweed, cares for her patients. 

    Finally, we believe that what you put on your body matters just as much as the nourishing food you put inside. We craft our skincare with this philosophy in mind for healthy, happy skin!
